“So I have a question for all you freelance bloggers. What do you do when you’re not working?”

I had this same question when I first started my blog years ago. I remember feeling frustrated and unsure of what to do when I couldn’t find work. I started watching other bloggers’ YouTube videos, reading blog posts, and even taking a few courses on how to market my blog. It was all very confusing at first, but after a while I started to get it down and was able to find some work.

I know what it’s like to have trouble finding work. In my case, I did some freelance writing and blogging for some clients. I also had a few side gigs from home like making videos and designing websites. It was all very sporadic and I never really made a lot of money from it. However, I was able to build up some experience and knowledge which helped me land more steady gigs down the line.

So what do you do when you’re not working?

I’ve outlined some of my tips below:

1. Get Some Professional Experience

One way to start getting paid for your services is by attending professional seminars or workshops. There are many online courses that teach you how to create a successful blog, blog marketing strategies, etc. These courses will give you hands-on experience working with clients and earning money from home.

2. Blog Regularly

Blogging is a great way to make money from home because it’s highly engaging and people love reading your content! If you’re not very familiar with blogging yet, start doing some simple beginner’s tutorials like this one. You can also check out my tutorial on how to create a blog or join one of the many online communities where people share tips on how to start a blog (like The Creative Girls).

3. Offer Services That Can Be Purchased

If you’re skilled in some specific area(s) such as graphic design, web development, writing etc., start offering services that can be purchased like logo design, social media management, website development etc. This will allow potential clients to see what you can do and give you an opportunity to make some money.

4. Use Social Media Platforms Well

Social media platforms are a great way to get exposure for your business without having to spend time building a website or hiring staff. Just start posting content on popular social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. and start seeing how many people click on your posts and join your group discussions. This will help build your brand name and bring in clients/customers!

5. Use Online Marketplaces

Online marketplaces like eBay, Amazon, and Etsy are great places to sell your services because they allow sellers to connect directly with customers over the internet. This gives you an opportunity to reach more people and make more money.

6. Start A Side Business

If none of the above strategies work for you then start a side business! This could be anything from selling products/services online, doing freelance work, or even starting your own blog (see point number 3 above). The bottom line is that whatever it is that you want to do – start doing it! No matter what it is, try not to let any single one of these suggestions discourage you but rather motivate you towards doing what it takes to achieve your goals.
